IELTS Reading

Let the fun begin (we're being facetious)!

Okay. If this is your first time studying for the reading part of the exam, let me give you the basics .

• 1st) You have 60 minutes to complete the IELTS reading passages. Some of this time will be spent transferring your answers onto your answer paper.

• 2nd) There are 3, sometimes 4, readings to complete

• 3rd) The readings increase in difficulty and there are 40 questions to answer

• 4th) If you are taking the General IELTS, your reading questions will focus more on work related, cultural, and social topics. At most, you might encounter one academic reading. If you're taking the Academic IELTS, all texts will be academic and comparable to those seen in undergraduate and graduate courses.
